Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies with Hershey's Kisses

I tossed a bag of Hershey's Kisses into my grocery cart a couple of weeks ago thinking I'd make Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies this holiday season. I've made Peanut Butter Cookies, but I've never made the kind with the Hershey's Kiss in the center...until today!  While the traditional cookies were cooling on the rack, I couldn't help but see a reindeer face in the making. You MUST make these for your little ones this year!

The Peanut Butter Blossoms are pretty enough, as is, but with a little extra prep, you can turn them into a "wow" cookie. Let's start with the *Best Peanut Butter Cookie* recipe here. Follow the recipe and baking instructions, but skip the addition of M&Ms. Instead, roll the cookie dough balls in a bowl of granulated sugar before placing on the cookie sheet for baking. When you remove the cookies from the oven, press the Hershey's Kiss into the center of the cookie. The chocolate kiss will warm and starts to soften. This is the perfect time to stick 2 candy eyeballs on the softened chocolate.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup of butter
  • 1 1/2 cups of dark brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of water
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt (recipe says 1/2 t, but I always cut the salt)
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour (recipe says 2 1/2 cups, but I bake at high altitude)

Instructions:

  1. In a small sauce pan over low heat, stir butter, sugar and water until butter is melted. Add chocolate chips. When the chocolate chips are melted, remove from heat:
  2. Pour melted mixture into a mixing bowl to cool for 10 minutes:
  3. Beat two eggs into the chocolate mixture. Then add salt, baking soda and flour.
