BANANA CAKE INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 softened butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup sour milk*
  • 2 ripe bananas

*Sour milk – mix 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Let stand 10-15 minutes.

CARAMEL ICING INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

SIMPLE BANANA CAKE RECIPE DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9 x 13 baking pan with butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and shortening until creamy.
